A lovely hidden gem. The village is the heart of the Monterosa ski slopes, retaining a friendly unspoiled ambience.
Alagna is legendary for advanced off-piste itineraries, but the area as a whole has a lot to offer deep snow skiers at every level.
Much of the terrain remains undeveloped and perfect for off-piste skiing. While the crowds arrive for the weekends and peak holiday periods, for the most part the skiing throughout Monterosa is on stunningly quiet pistes.

Restaurants
Hotel Monterosa opened in 1865, and its Queen Margherita dining room is named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited the hotel in 1893. The hotel serves flavourful Northern Italian cooking made with locally sourced ingredients, with dishes such as homemade pasta, fresh gnocchi and porcini risotto alongside wines from Piemonte.
Breakfast is included each morning, together with five dinners at Hotel Monterosa. During winter, the hotel does not serve dinner on Wednesday or Sunday, leaving those evenings free for other dining plans.
Bars
We create our own apres ski in the local bars, which all have a quiet, but friendly atmosphere. The hotel has a small and quiet bar, perfect for a few drinks or a hot chocolate after skiing!
